At present nine manufacturers of exhaust systems are organized in the department of exhaust systems.

Topics of the department are the system approach of fireplace – connector – exhaust system as well as the interface problem.

The HKI informs the members of the departments about the current developments within this range of subjects and can provide expert information to the members about the developments in the field of fireplaces. System safety related questions are discussed in the department as well.

The HKI can provide precious information about standardization activities in this area for its members of the department exhaust systems. This is possible through a cooperation between the standardization committee CEN TC 295 (Fireplaces for solid fuels), whose secretariat is held by the FNH (Standards Committee Heating and Cooking Equipment), and the CEN TC 166 (Chimneys).
